Video marketing has incredible potential.
One saying I love to use is “If a photo is worth 1000 words, we shoot 25,000 photos every second”.
Need more reasons?
I could go on forever as the list goes on.
Ok, now I know why video marketing is important but how do I start?
Determining your objectives will help you in seeing:
If you’re stuck and unsure where to start, here are some common marketing objectives:
There are definitely more. You really need to dig deep and find out why you are making your video. This ensures that you can smash out your marketing strategy.
Building from these general objectives, you can further iron out your objectives with goals.
Now you have your objectives and goals sorted. What next?
There are plenty of different types of video that will achieve your goals. I recommend researching each type and watching examples just so you know it’s what you need.
Here’s a list of some types of video:
#TIP: When producing the video, make sure that your video ends with a call to action, as this leads directly into your marketing strategy of the video itself.
Now that you’ve chosen the type of video that you want to create, you might be asking yourself “How do I get the right people to see this video?”
Here is where video promotion comes in handy.
What’s the point of making a video if no one is going to see it? That’s why it’s so important to have a strategy to promote the video after it’s made. This is too often overlooked wasting all the money and time invested in your video production.
Here are some tips to make sure your video is seen for free:
Think about your ideal customer. Do they like to waste time? If your thumbnail isn’t appealing, you lose the chance of anyone watching your video. Make sure your thumbnail gives viewers a general idea of what they’re about to see. Make sure if there’s a person in the thumbnail; that they look smart, dressed up for what they do. If you don’t look like someone who can solve any problems why would they watch your video?
Posting your video to Facebook groups is a great way to get views on your video. At this point, any traffic is good traffic. Especially for Youtube, it’s vital you get even a little traction on your video as Youtube will be more inclined to recommend your video to others.
Too many times we do videos that we see on a customer's timeline only once. It’s OK to repost/share your original video again.
Facebook/Linkedin: Share your post again every month at LEAST.
Instagram: Post your video on your story at least once a week.
If you’re looking to really maximise your investment I highly recommend spending that extra on some paid advertising on top of the 3 free techniques above.
Here are some paid strategies for promotion:
I could go into detail on how to run advertising online, but there’s so much information online who’d explain it better than me. I’d recommend reading up on it so you’re not draining your money, or just get someone to do it for you.
Great! We’ve gone through the basic steps required to run a successful video marketing campaign. Now it’s your turn :)
