New research from Skyline, a company dedicated to providing scalable leadership development and coaching across an organization, shows that the answer is...both. Male and Female leaders might have different ways of running a company or managing employees, but both genders have something the other could learn from.

The below Skyline infographic looks at different leadership traits that are traditionally viewed as either masculine or feminine. While neither approach is right or wrong, all business leaders can be more effective if they balance out their style with strategies from the entire leadership spectrum. Some highlights from the infographic include:

  • Employees don’t quit their job, they quit their boss. 50% of professionals have quit a job to get away from their boss.
  • Leadership is the more important than perks. 81% of employees would rather join a company that values open communication than trendy perks
  • People rate 70% of  masculine and feminine expressions as equally effective.
  • 31% of people considered women in top positions in business to be more honest and ethical than men. Just 3% said the opposite.
  • Female bosses outscored males in 11 of 12 engagement categories.
