With Christmas around the corner, people are full of festive spirit… granted they’ve probably had one too many sherries but the point still stands and social media is a place to embrace the holiday cheer. Regardless what platform you’re on and what you sell there’s no excuse to be a scrooge and avoid any Christmas sparkle in your campaigns. If you’re new to Christmas marketing and not sure where to begin, well you’re in luck. I’m here to tell you, you don’t need to be Kris Kringle to come across as a pro. Here are 5 ways you can add that much needed Christmas sparkle in your social media campaigns.
1) SHOWCASE WHAT YOU HAVE TO OFFER – NOT JUST IN PICTURES!
Every brand will already be doing this, but only a smart brand would go the extra mile and take advantage of the beauty that is video. Use Instagram Stories, Instagram Videos, Facebook Videos, Facebook Live Feeds, Snapchat Stories and Youtube promotion to demonstrate your product or the benefits of what your product can do. Make sure you make it seasonal and relevant to this festive period. That could be a backdrop of a winter wonderland, or even in a studio with festive hats, jumpers and props!
2) HAVE FUN WITH A TWITTER POLL
Make your poll memorable, relatable to your brand and most importantly get your audience thinking. Don’t take yourself too seriously, this is just a light-hearted, fun way to encourage engagement and keep your audience interested.
3) CONSIDER CREATING A FILTER ON SNAPCHAT
Do you remember the John Lewis advert of 2016 featuring Buster the Boxer? They also created a geofilter and utilised the hashtag #Bustertheboxer to push the promotion. Overall, it gave John Lewis mass publicity and really tugged at the heartstrings of animals lovers. Coca-Cola got involved and targeted users nostalgia by recreating modern-day Christmas cards featuring the classic Coca-Cola trucks as geofilters.
4) CREATE A VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS DISCOUNT
Facebook allows you to create an offer for your fans, so not only is this increasing conversion, your engagement rate will also be higher. Reward your fans with the joy of a handy discount on your products/services. You could even run is for 12 days in December and market it as the 12 days of giftmas!
5) REMEMBER YOUR CHRISTMAS HASHTAGS
Hashtags have been proven to boost campaign visibility and with many festive hot-words, this season why not contribute to delight your users. Sure, it’s adding to the holiday ‘noise’ but sharing this content will evoke positivity meaning anyone seeing it will be happier. Happy people means happy customers.
