You’re probably already using LinkedIn to generate leads and expand your reach. However, are LinkedIn features enough for following up with your prospects?

You can avoid losing potential leads by finding their email addresses. Take advantage of LinkedIn’s growing user base to acquire more emails.

Unfortunately, finding email addresses on LinkedIn can be more complex than you expect. In this article, I’ll discuss five practical and proven ways how to find emails on LinkedIn.

Let’s get started.

1. Search Manually on LinkedIn Profiles

I’ve searched for specific information about a person on their LinkedIn profile at some point. You can do the same with email addresses.

All you need to do is visit your prospect’s profile. There, you will find a section labeled “contact information” as shown below.

Click that section, and their contact details will appear. Among these details could be their email address.

Not everyone includes their email addresses in their contact information. If I can’t find their email address, I won't give up just yet.

Some people place their email addresses on the banner or about sections, so I make sure to check there as well. Take the image below as an example.

2. Use LinkedIn’s Sales Navigator

LinkedIn’s Sales Navigator is a premium tool that you can use to find emails and boost your digital marketing efforts.

With 922.3 million LinkedIn users globally, this feature allows you to narrow your search. You can apply advanced filters to target specific industries, job titles, companies, and locations.

For instance, you can target key decision-makers if you’re looking for potential leads in the software development industry.

How, you may ask?

  • Narrow down your search by using specific terms like “Chief Technology Officer.”
  • Combine the job titles with relevant keywords, such as “Growth” or “ Sales.”
  • Refine your search some more by adding location-specific keywords like “Texas” or “San Francisco.”

The tool will then generate a list of relevant profiles like the ones shown below.

It provides an extended view of users’ profiles, potentially revealing their email addresses.

3. Download the Emails of Your 1st Degree Connections

If I’m already connected with my prospects, I can directly download their email addresses. Here’s how to do it:

  1. Log in to your account on a desktop.
  2. Go to your profile icon at the top of your LinkedIn home page and select “Settings.”
  3. Navigate to “Data Privacy.”

  1. Under the “How LinkedIn uses your data” section, click “Get a copy of your data.”

  1. Choose “Want something in particular?”
  2. Select “Connections” alongside any other files you may need.
  3. Then, click “Request archive” and key in your password to initiate the process.

  1. You’ll then receive an email with a link to download your archive.
  2. Once you get the link, download the file containing your 1st-degree connections’ information.

This information may include their email addresses. However, some users may opt to keep their email addresses private, resulting in some empty spaces in your file. All email addresses you manage to collect can then be added to your company's CRM for your outreach specialists to use, or team up with the best cold email lead generation agency you can find so they can outreach for you.

4. Use Email Finder Tools and Extensions

  • First, ensure your LinkedIn profile is complete and professional.
  • Build a relationship by interacting with your prospects’ content.
  • Personalize your message to spark interest. You can mention something specific that made you want to connect further.
  • Clearly explain why you’d like to connect via email. For instance, you can say you would like to continue the conversation beyond LinkedIn for professional collaboration or networking.
